Reporting to the Vice President Marketing, the Strategic Insights Manager will be fully integrated into the Marketing Department and will play a strategic role in delivering consumer, shopper, brand and product insights in Canada and other Valens focused markets. The person in this position will serve as a key business partner of the marketing team and commercial teams helping diagnose business problems, driving business growth, identify market opportunities and help shape a consumer insights focused direction for our customers.


  • Support set up of a centralized approach for research and insights
  • Bring consumer centricity to any and all business conversations
  • Be the voice of consumer and inject consumer insights across all aspects of brand equity and product innovation including but not limited to brand strategy, communication strategy, creative development, innovation, product and packaging, in market execution and trade strategy
  • Anticipate business and research needs; understand the big picture but also the nuances of the business and research
  • Craft research plan based on diagnosis of business challenges
  • Source and execute complex primary research projects in collaboration with research partners to address key business questions
  • Provide actionable recommendations based on executed custom research and any other relevant sources of data
  • Proactively provide thought leadership to influence business stakeholders to ensure consumer centricity in decision making
  • Integrate data from multiple data sources (primary, secondary and syndicated) to drive foresight and strategy and support yearly business planning through comprehensive summary and implications of past learning, Market Intelligence & Competitive Intelligence
  • Translate data and information into actionable insights and business recommendations engaging and inspiring the organization, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure full business buy-in


  • B.A. in Marketing, Business or related field in influencing brand and category management
  • 5-7 years of experience in market research, consumer insights or related field
  • Consumer packaged goods experience an asset
  • Strong knowledge in data usage and analysis
  • Working knowledge of latest research tools online and offline
  • Wide knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
  • Good proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Effective presentation, report writing skills and the ability to work individually
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, and use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
  • Reliable, responsible and dependable
  • Demonstrated capability as a team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong commitment to professional development and knowledge acquisition
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to complete a satisfactory criminal record check
