Research and Development Technologist
We are seeking a Research and Development Technologist to report directly to the Head of Research and Development that will be responsible for leading various types of R&D projects, including those related to formulation, product development, process development and stability studies. R&D Technicians will work closely with the Head of R&D and the R&D Project Manager to establish project timelines and to ensure these timelines are met. Collaboration with operations, quality and marketing departments will also be required to ensure R&D projects align with company goals. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have a strong passion for research.
DUTIES:

- Plan and execute on R&D projects as directed by the Head of R&D
- Develop project timelines and work efficiently to ensure timelines are met
- Perform experiments and data analysis, document the experimental observations and calculations, and summarize the findings
- Apply Design of Experiments (DoE) approach to experimental design
- Assist with the installation, qualification and commissioning of R&D equipment
- Operate and maintain R&D equipment
- Find suppliers of raw materials and assist in the vendor/material qualification process
- Utilize a legible R&D notebook to document R&D activities and adhere to company and regulatory standards for controlled notebooks
- Write SOPs, batch records and other technical documents
- Present findings to the R&D team during team meetings
- Contribute to a positive team environment that promotes hard work, curiosity, innovation and execution
- Adhere to all company policies and SOPs
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s Degree in science or engineering
- Master’s degree is considered an asset
- 3+ years R&D experience in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical or food and beverage industries (preferred)
- R&D experience in the cannabis industry is considered an asset
- Experience using Design of Experiments (DoE) approach to R&D
- Knowledge of analytical testing methods and ability to interpret analytical data
- Ability to write high quality technical documents (R&D reports, SOPs, batch records)
- Self-motivated and passionate about R&D
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Impeccable verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent project and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail with an ability to stay on the critical path and execute
- Ability to manage more than one project at a time
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute development projects
- Bachelor’s Degree in science or engineering
