Quality Manager

Reporting to the Director, Quality, the Quality Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations within the Quality department. They will strive to maintain the culture of quality, safety and compliance that Valens has created.

DUTIES:

  • Provide the leadership and direction necessary to direct reports for the Quality department to meet their goals and maintain compliance
  • Provide expertise and guidance with regards to regulatory requirements for computerized systems validation and manufacturing process systems qualification, as well as quality practices, validation strategies, procedures, and related validation activities.
  • Oversee production processes to assure the quality and integrity of products
  • Approve and manage SOPs; ensure that products are produced, packaged, labelled and stored in accordance with the approved SOPs
  • Assure all QA systems are monitored through KPI’s that drive both efficiency and compliance
  • Assist with the hiring of new employees, performance management, and training
  • Oversee staff training program to ensure all Valens employees are sufficiently and job specifically trained on Quality processes and procedures
  • Communicate and advise related department managers for risk assessment, change control, deviation and non-conformance issues found with associated CAPA implementation
  • Prepare for and participate in all third-party audits and inspections as well as lead internal inspections
  • Ensure all records and documents are complete and filed as per company policy and Health Canada Regulations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (i.e. pharmaceutical, biotechnology, science, environmental science, chemistry, microbiology and biology) required
  • Security clearance and QAP designation approved from Health Canada is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on and working QA experience in a GMP-focused quality related position in Cannabis or related environment
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience in quality systems and leading direct reports
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage within a growing organization
  • Experience building a high-performance team and managing the performance of team members with varying skill levels and experience within a growing organization
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects
  • Experienced in process development and driving efficiencies and compliance through KPI’s
  • Proven track record in building trusted relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to make impactful risk-based decisions quickly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to complete a satisfactory criminal record check
