We’re looking for an innovative Procurement Manager to specialize in the implementation of cost-effective purchases of all cannabis extraction goods and services. Reporting into the COO, our ideal candidate will coordinate their efforts with departments across the company and utilize expert knowledge to establish, build and maintain a world-class procurement department. The successful candidate will be a driven individual who is aligned with our core values and is able to remain highly adaptable as we scale our operations.

DUTIES:

  • Communicate, develop, and execute sourcing and procurement strategies to support corporate and operational goals via active collaboration with all departments
  • Create and manage annual procurement budgets for services, regulated commodities, consumables and equipment
  • Implement tactics to optimize vendor assessments, negotiations, renewals and contract performance monitoring
  • Analyzes significant, and/or unique contract requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements
  • Establish vendor and contracts management process including contract database management and spend forecasting
  • Develop key performance metrics and benchmarks
  • Provide insights based on market review of existing and potential vendor base to proactively seek competitive advantage
  • Prepare and adjust sourcing documentation including RFP development, analyze vendor responses, and work with business leaders to evaluate proposals
  • Work collaboratively with other stakeholders to deliver all aspects of the contract management process including contract drafting and negotiation, monitoring and completion of contract close-out, extension or renewal, as appropriate
  • Manage, lead and build a team that aligns with company standards and culture
  • Mitigate vendor risk through governance & policy enforcement

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 5 years within a senior purchasing role, leading a purchasing team
  • Certified Professional Purchaser (C.P.P.) or completion of the educational program of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) is highly desirable
  • Proven success in a leadership role and the ability to coach and grow more junior purchasers
  • Experience in strategic sourcing in a CPG, pharmaceutical, cannabis or other regulated industry is an asset
  • Comprehensive experience drafting contracts and vendor agreements including the ability to mitigate risk with vendors and suppliers through well-structured agreements
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is considered an asset
  • Adaptable to a rapidly changing environment with shifting priorities
  • Ability to complete a satisfactory criminal record check
